The circuits, artwork and cutter sizes were designed in Adobe Illustrator and supplied to the partner printers Selway Solutions and Easibind
International to print and manufacture. Selway Solutions aligning all facets of the unit, face print vs printed  electronics vs adhesive and
mounting vs foam board cutting/mounting vs PCB
mounting. Repro for the outer graphics supplied by the customer, designed the intricate printed electronics touch points to register with the outer graphics printed by Easibind International.
The graphics were printed by Easibind on their HP indigo 5600 using HP Electro inks, onto
the coated paper which then was thermal matt laminated carried out on a D&K laminator.
The conductive ink was company’s proprietary
NOV00014 solvent-based screen ink. Selway oversaw the printed of this ink onto a 250mic
coated paper substrate using a 77TA screen on a SPS cylinder press in register with the surface graphics, with tunnel drying using forced air at
75c. The foam board backing which is a specified, specialised version and has a memory to prevent squashing under pressure of die cutting, was
first passed for the circuit aperture by digital router, this must be in register with the digitally printed face so the PCB can align with the Printed
electronics and the face print when mounted, final die cut by Sanwa Autoplatern. Attachment of the PCB to the printed electronics is by company’s
developed dot and pin system which needs further pressure applied to firmly attach the PCB
to the layer of specialist screen printed adhesive on the reverse and in register with the face graphics. The mounting of the other component modules, battery pack and loudspeaker, is carried out by hand, with QC checking of each poster
before shipping to the client in the US.

The poster was produced using company’s own ink technology, construction/ print specifications, electronics modules and software. The printed items have been printed and constructed by partner printer, Selway at
Easibind International to company’s tight design & construction specifications, using supplied
conductive ink and electronics modules running company’s standalone audio software. The audio has been designed to run three channels of audio
simultaneously and the audio runs in loops to be always in time with itself. The printed electronics
circuit has to be screen printed onto a substrate in register with the digitally printed graphics on the opposing side of substrate. These were then laminated/ mounted onto pre-cut foam board sheets before the edges are trimmed. The electronics modules, battery packs and speaker are attached using specialist adhesives.
