Harwood King Printmakers
Silkscreen using 35 colours from a painting by Lizzie Richards. The use of multiple colours was used to create a painted texture to the final
image.Creating the separations for the print required us the think about where the texture
would be created. A set of cmyk screen printed colours was used as a starting point but then individual colours were separated and printed
using artist pigments to closely match that of the original. Flatbed Digital Varnish with a little black
was added at the end of production to help add a varnish texture to some areas.

“Warzawa Wschodnia” by Sebas Velasco In summer 2016 Sebas Velasco realized a mural painting for the project “Street Art Doping
Warzaw” (Fundacja Do Dzieła ). For the print we took a picture of the polish photographer Maciej
Krüger. The aim of this print is to somehow perpetuate an outstanding work of Urban Art , the
original of which will disappear in a few years.
60 copies, plus artist´s and printer´s proofs.
1 month / 1 worker for preparation, pre-press, proof printing, corrections and printing
TECHNIQUE & EQUIPMENT:
Screen print on 2mm card board A photograph from Maciej Krüger of Velasco´s artwork in Warsaw was taken, and manipulated with Photoshop. First it was resized to the format of the print and then divided in layers representing the dominant colours and colour shades of the original (the surrounding cityscape has been built up with the same colours). These layers were converted in halftones of 420 dpi. Clichés were printed out with a EPSON Stylus Pro 7450 printer on StarPrint Polyester Ink Jet Film and then copied to the screens, these stretched with a SEFAR PET1500 120-34 and SEFAR PET1500 100-55 mesh. Printing was done on a hand printing table Siri-Drucktisch of Bochonow Maschinenbau. 14 transparent and translucent layers were printed on Crescent cardboard of 2 mm.: grey, dark blue, bright green, red, yellow, orange, brown, dark red, ocre, blue, grey-violet, broken white and 2 black tones. Non-toxic and bio-degradable inks were used for printing, made of LASCAUX Screen Printing Paste and LASCAUX Studio Artist Acrylic
Colours and Mediums.

On Saunder´s Waterford paper, 425 g. 5 inks, white background printed with oil-based inks and
a 60-thread screen, 4 tones of transparent greys printed with 165-thread screens. The challenge for this print was screen printing a pencil drawing and depicting even the smallest details. The touches of
