“The Unknown” Through the use of abstract and macro photography, Bourazanis has captured the essence of bringing her imagination to life; creating and expressing a world of unknown possibilities, by focusing on particular foods that have a negative affect on her, identifying and imagining what each possible detail could look like
within her mind.

TECHNIQUE: WITH THE HELP OF MACRO AND PARTICULAR LIGHTING SETTINGS ON ADOBE LIGHTROOM AND ADOBE PHOTOSHOP, I WAS ABLE TO SEE INSIDE EACH TYPE OF FOOD IN ANOTHER WAY THAT AN EYE COULDN’T VISUALLY SEE WITHOUT A MACRO LENS. I WANTED TO TRANSFORM A MICRO IMAGE INTO A MACRO IMAGE. I THEN UPLOADED THESE IMAGES ONTO PHOTOSHOP AND LIGHTROOM AND ENHANCED THESE PARTICULAR FEATURES AND DETAILS TO SHOW THEM AS SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I THEN ADDED MORE CONTRAST TO THE IMAGE TO CREATE A SPACE LIKE FEELING. I WANTED TO EXPRESS PERSPECTIVE, VISION DISTORTION AND MACRO IMAGERY INTO MY FINAL IMAGES AS IT CAN CREATE A WHOLE NEW MEANING TO WHAT WE SEE AS INDIVIDUALS, OPENING OUR EYES TO A WHOLE NEW  IMAGINATION.

ARTEVELDE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE GHENT

In my last year of University College we had to elaborate a big project where research and creativity came together. I decided to look into a centuries-old printing method; the monoprint. This simple method only requires a smooth plate and some ink and is very easy to apply. The reason why this method is long forgotten is because you can only make one print each time (hence the name ‘mono’) which makes every print unique. I used this technique to illustrate short stories from the book “Slowly, as fast as they could” from the Dutch author Toon Tellegen. These stories have their own weird and mysterious beauty, which is perfectly represented by the monoprint technique.

COUNTRY: BELGIUM
PRINTING TYPE: MIXED (COMBINATION OF PRINTING TECHNIQUES)
TECHNIQUE: A MONOPRINT IS A PRINTING TECHNIQUE WHERE ONLY ONE PRINT CAN BE MADE. THE TECHNIQUE IS ALSO CALLED MONOTYPE OR MONOTYPIE. I MADE AN IMAGE ON A PLATE WITH INK. WHILE THE INK IS STILL WET, IT WILL BE PRINTED ON THE PAPER. CREATE A SECOND PRINT IS NOT POSSIBLE.
